Yeah and water is wet. Unpaid carers get shafted constantly and get told suck it up in a system that calls them lazy and essential at the same time. No one is surprised by this.

I’m a carer for my wife and have been for the last twenty years. I can fully identify with everything the article states. I’ve been through cycles of depression, I never feel like I can ‘switch off,’ we’ve struggled financially and I have precisely zero social life outside of my immediate family. I love my wife, and I don’t blame her for any of it but, fuck me, it’s hard sometimes.
