What a brutal mistake by Respond. Telling people they’d secured a cost-rental home something life changing in this housing crisis and then taking it back is genuinely cruel. Housing isn’t a raffle prize, it’s stability, safety, and the end of constant uncertainty. Errors happen, but this one shows a shocking lack of care for the emotional impact. They need to explain how it happened, fix their processes, and offer real support to those affected.

That’s such a major fuck-up. I think I’d actually be in tears, especially so close to Christmas. And barely an apology, either, though I’m not shocked on that front unfortunately.

Big oof. Definitely need a few more checks between running that sort of a lottery and actually sending out the notifications.

Out of curiosity, the article states the woman’s partner ended his tenancy the day they got the news.. Why would anyone do that when they haven’t even gone through the checks stage of the documents let alone sign the rental agreement
