L’eurodeputato belga Wouter Beke ha ribadito le preoccupazioni del primo ministro Bart De Wever secondo cui un prestito di 140 miliardi di euro per l’Ucraina esporrebbe il Belgio a rischi legali e finanziari inaccettabili. Il piano resta l’opzione preferita da Kallas e dalla Commissione per mantenere a galla l’Ucraina l’anno prossimo.
Un altro partecipante ha detto che Kallas è stata “molto condiscendente” nelle sue osservazioni sulla posizione del Belgio.

L’editorialista di Euractiv Simon Nixon scrive nel suo ultimo editoriale che le preoccupazioni del Belgio sono legittime: il paese si trova ad affrontare una reale esposizione alle ritorsioni russe, Euroclear – la stanza di compensazione con sede a Bruxelles – si assumerebbe un rischio legale e finanziario particolarmente elevato.
Il Belgio, tuttavia, ha rifiutato di sostenere il progetto a meno che i suoi rischi legali e finanziari non siano condivisi e altre capitali dell’UE non sfruttino gli asset sovrani russi detenuti nelle proprie giurisdizioni.
Quindi, in pratica, persone come Kallas vogliono che siano i cittadini belgi a farsi carico del peso quando la Russia trascina Euroclear e il Belgio davanti ai tribunali di tutto il mondo, compresi i nostri partner commerciali, così noi e i nostri figli verremmo fregati per generazioni? Naturalmente Euroclear andrebbe in default. Così come la nostra posizione finanziaria globale. E quando il nostro governatore belga. chiede di condividere i rischi legali e finanziari, c’è un silenzio assordante.
Perché c’è anche qualche Leboutin che indossa una testa aerea di discendenza nazista non eletta a capo della diplomazia dell’UE?

Also to me it is insane that Kallas was allowed to take up her post with several corruption allegations running. Really paints a bad image when Europe really needs a good one. One of those allegations is tied to Russia, really turns this whole shit into a sitcom doesnt it.
