It’s a step backward. For Ireland to have any hope with transporting a large population we need more trains, more trams, more buses, more cycle paths and less reliance on cars.
Cars are simply not an efficient way to move lots of people.

With Metro getting yet another set back and this… we are going to beat all traffic/gridlock records in EU.

Didn’t agree with all their policies, but it was always clear from whence the public transport focused policies were coming from; and of course as with all minor coalition partners, the Greens got ousted.
Every week my seething frustration with our ruling cabal just grows and festers.

It wouldn’t be a problem if the government actually build shit in the first place, public infrastructure and roads

lol Michael Martin couldn’t even get funding for the Cork LUAS. But there’s money for the road from Killarney to Farranfore…

The 360m figure for active travel hasn’t changed since the first Green budget so it has been significantly eroded by inflation. (And a lot of the projects it funds are road developments in disguise)

This was guaranteed after the nation voted the greens out. We basically said build more roads lads fuck all that public transport shite

The problem is that when it comes to public policy the loudest voices are the upper crust. It’s wealthy types that are making the policy, and when TDs are discussing such things they’re more likely to hear from Michael O’Leary from Ryanair then from Michael Byrne from down the road.
What these types have in common is that they experience the city from behind the wheel of a car. And they think of all problems from a Car’s perspective.
That means we’re destined to turn the country into a paradise of dual carriageways, drive thrus, strip malls and endless, endless parking lots.
80%road and parking lot, 20% whatever it is we’re driving to. Pave paradise, put up a parking lot!

“We have never seen a many public transport projects being delivered in a five year…. Blah, blah, blah”
So, the answer is to start delivering less?
We need to vote green next election to get them back into government. There will always be a place for private transport but, I’d love everyone in the country to at least have another option!

Sorry guys, the people who actually vote for us don’t use public transport!

There is no defence for doing this.
