Before anyone reports this for not being about the UK without reading the article
“He made money from anti-migrant Facebook pages aimed at Brits, now he’s sharing his formula”
I’m really happy there’s finally a spotlight being put onto all these slop accounts that are largely based in India and such, cosplaying as a fed-up middle aged ‘patriot’.
Probably the one good thing Musk has done on Twitter is introduced where accounts are based. Although he wouldn’t have had to do that without implementing the ad share revenue programme.
It’s a massive problem. Dead internet theory indeed.
Social media has done to old people what they thought violent video games were doing to teenagers in the 90s.
They can’t differentiate between reality and fiction. They lack the media literacy to properly analyse and scrutinise where the information is coming from and why.
When I last headed home, I had to explain to my mother how monetisation on Facebook works. She understood that companies were paying money to get their products on her feed, she didn’t understand that the ‘influencers’ that she thought were ‘organically’ coming up were also paying to do so.
