La Commissione Europea ha approvato l’iniziativa dei cittadini per una copertura del passaporto europeo. Sarebbe comunque facoltativo per ogni cittadino (se pienamente approvato). Un passo simbolico verso una federazione

Feels like Europe just Unlocked a Cosmetic DLC. Same Passport power, but now with federation Flair.

A digital passport, accepted from many countries would be much better. I heard that they try to make one, but I don’t know about the progress.

You’re telling me the UK could have got a blue passport whilst staying within the EU?

why discuss joint fiscal, defence, research, political initiatives/reforms when you can have a passport cover?

You know what we need? A democracy holiday. A day where we as european citizen should celebrate all the years of peace and prosperity the EU and democracy in general has given us.

I would’ve considered choosing this design in the past, but now I’ll just continue with the national design. Screw chat control and age verification.

I’m no longer as pro EU as I used to be.

EU can only survive if it moves towards a federation. Otherwise it will be occupied by ruzzia and destroyed.

    8. If I could have it written in French maybe I’d get the EU one. If it’s only in English I don’t want it.

    9. That’s not an upgrade from the nice comic book illustrated Belgian passport.

      And they went for blue…..

After all the brexit voters who were annoyed with red….

Honestly i quite like the look of this passport so i will pick this i feel. But also like should have given this option earlier….. Shows how slow the EU can be when it’s needed.

Although I like this, I’d like some sort of hybrid. Where the colors are like this, one side has your countries cover and one side has the EU. I’d love that

I wonder how this would work in relation to Greenland.

There is almost de-facto EU-citizenship because of Schengen, with some caveats. One of them being Greenland.

The Greenlandic population does not have its own citizenship, they are 100% regular Danish citizens, hold regular Danish passports that even say ‘Europæiske Union’ as well, *(with an optional variant that says Greenland, but legally it’s just a Danish passport)*. But the constituent country of Greenland, the land, not the people, even though is not sovereign and a part of the Kingdom of Denmark, opts out of the EU and Schengen.

This means the Greenlandic people are effectively EU citizens, that can freely move to anywhere in the EU. Danish citizens from Denmark-proper can also freely move to Greenland, because it’s within the Kingdom, there are no limitations here and Greenland doesn’t legally distinguish between native Greenlanders and Danes from Denmark-proper. But other EU citizens outside of Denmark (say Germany) cannot freely move to Greenland, because they are not Danish citizens.

There are exceptions to the other Nordic countries through specific treaties. But it does mean there is actually a difference between a Danish passport and any other EU passport, as the Danish passport and Danish citizenship means you’re free to go to and live in Greenland.

So this EU passport would still have to be a variant of the national passports to avoid issues.

I’m still wondering why federalists want to impose things that no one asked for. The EU was supposed to respect member states, so how does a symbol that literally erases a country show respect for a nation, when in France our symbols are enshrined in the Constitution (Article 2) – and the European symbol is not part of it and won’t be part of it?

We don’t want it, keep it for those crooks in Brussels. We want to be able to produce our food and our goods locally, not purchase apples and oranges from every country that is in another far away continent, and our farmers are forced to destroy their crops, and kill their animals, to fit EU rules.

      Wake up.

Just introduce digital id as an option and not mandatory, I actually prefer the national cover we have now.

    17. I would be cool with this if the European Commission wasn’t trying to fucking remove my privacy

What a lot citizens of EU member states don’t realize, is that they actually have a dual citizenship between their country and the EU. The latter just doesn’t have a separate document, your member state ID/passport also acts as a passport for your EU nationality. But other than that, it’s no less than a full citizenship.

You can move and work freely across the EU, just like you can within your own country. When applying for visas to enter other countries, most of the times your EU nationality will be considered before your member state nationality. You can find help in the embassies of any EU member state when you’re travelling outside of the EU.

This cosmetic change is a logical step to reflect that reality.

Painfully generic, unappealing font, oversized elements, only English…no thank you.

    20. I used to be a huge fan of an EU federation, but with the chat control and taxes on working out, I’m getting a sour taste in my mouth.
