I guess the students have already organised protests all over Europe, right? RIGHT?
Wow, no need to shout so hard! That was unbearable!
Seriously, that was barely above a conversational whisper.
Two things cant be true at the same time?
Abortion rights are cool, but I think Nigerians are a little more worried about entire villages being murdered or enslaved by fanatical Islamic extremists. I could be wrong though.
Strangely this doesn’t happen when Palestinians speak out against the war in Gaza.
These “militants” should be ashamed of themselves. The Nigerian guy is here to defend human rights because there is a genocide going on in his country, and they want to redirect the conversation on church policy which he has absolutely no control over, and which is frankly not important compared to a genocide.
my god people, fucking choose your moment, if not for compassion for fucking optics
there is not a genocide of christians in nigeria, because what there is is terrorism groups that the central state of Abuja cannot control
there is no state or state-like goverment who creates policy to carry out a genocide, theres tons of small muslim terrorist groups that kill farmers (who tend to be christian) when they enter in conflict with herders (who tend to be muslim)
Edit: u/Billy_Ektop makes a good argument about how genocide is not just done by stated or state like actors, in this case then yes, these terrorist groups should be held accountable for genocide
My argument was basically trying to say that there is no “easy blame” to be put on anyone, it’s not like the Ukrainian war where the Russian goverment is responsible, or the genocide in Gaza and Sudan, both conflicts have goverment like groups you can blame
I guess you could blame the incompetence of the government in Abuja… But blaming incompetence in a country with 40% extreme poverty isn’t very profictive
That’s all
Both can be true.
Religious extremism targeting the Christians of Nigeria needs to be combatted.
Medieval beliefs on women rights and oppression of minorities (e.g.LGBT) by Christians (in Nigeria in that case) also need to be combatted.
Seems to me this priest cares only about the 1st, and Montero cares only about the 2nd.
No way these protestors are genuine…
Western leftists dont care about genocide, sexism, racism, and so on if it doesn’t fit their victim/offender scheme.
So, if you are a male you can’t be a victim to sexism.
If you are white you can’t be a victim to racism.
If you are Christian you can’t be a victim of genocide.
And so on.
Extremists are extremists and always will be.
What scares me the most is that in Europe the leftist extremist are mostly seen as just regular left. Almost as if this were based and valid.
This performative outrage over Nigeria is really disheartening, considering the westerners outraged over this don’t even have concrete demands beyond “condemning”.
Tf the EU is supposed to do what against Boko Haram? Intervene in a Nigerian civil war? (I would actually support this, but only if there are concrete plans to stabilise the affected provinces).
Generally speaking, it breaks my heart how Western advocacy against war and genocide is purely performative, to the point that even the victims and their advocates only expect so much from us.
Abortion is illegal in a ton of Western and rich nations outside Africa. I think for Africa the main problems are quite different.
truly a bizarre event to try an derail.
Has always the European Parliement is where the European political parties throw their incompetent idiots that they cant fire. Seriously there are some people there that are useless .
“abortion is a human right” So the Islamists are merely “aborting” the Christians. Is that her point?
Left Wing people trying not to be absolutely moronic.
Level: Impossible

I think that can wait, Irene. There are more pressing matters such as people being massacred in Nigera. You can discuss the problems after Nigeria gets rid of militants killing their people.
European left, never change.
