È perché siamo un posto estremamente desiderabile in cui vivere? Quindi dovremmo essere orgogliosi di questo.

Switzerland has also one of the most annoying naturalisation process that often leads to 2nd if not 3rd generation to not take the passport. Once you have a C permit, you’re as good as you can and don’t necessarily feel the need to pay the thousand it takes.

A good quarter of our foreign population is born here. So if you remove 7-8% we are between Ireland and Canada.
The rules oblige me to mention these statistics come from the OECD I think.
The reason for this score is because it is MUCH more difficult to naturalize and get the Swiss passport compared to other countries in Europe.
As usual, Luxembourg feels left out. 🙂 Foreigners make up over 45% of the demographic
Not at all surprised. If you have that many foreigners, of course you notice that. There are hardly any Swiss with twi Swiss parents who also had two Swiss parents each. That is a rarity.
This looks like percentage born abroad, not foreigners. In which case it’s not down to the naturalisation process.
And a third of those are Italian, French or German so it’s not like they’ve come far really. Quite different to Australia.
Maybe it is the number 1 in LEGAL migration. I am sure other countries dont even report refugees or illegals as actual migration

If my country has 2 people, and 1 more person comes in, that’s a 50% growth.
If you have a small population, any number of people coming in will be more than other countries AS A PERCENTAGE.

In Zürich there are like 50% immigrants, but they also pay 80% of the taxes. Switzerland has been really successful attracting high output immigrants.
