They raised their prices significantly so I’ll be boycotting

I don’t see how ‘business stops doing thing that loses money’ is newsworthy.
Is this some kind of backdoor advertisement for Ryanair?

I don’t know why Ryanair would a scheme like this in the first place. People who fly Ryanair will fly Ryanair whether there is a scheme or there isn’t, and flights are generally the least expensive part of a trip away so (even) cheaper flights aren’t going to drum up more custom. I would imagine it might be an idea for business customers if they offered transferable Airmiles or something.

Let’s be honest. Ryanair are spoofing us. They had high aspirations for the scheme but it turned out to be a total dud. There’s no way they’re losing money on something they would have crunched the numbers on in advance.
In reality they probably expected this to boost revenue as people would stick with Ryanair on competitive routes. In reality the scheme did fuck all for brand loyalty and in many cases it’s worthless for customers.
Ryanair fucked up their opportunity for a loyalty scheme.

So they generated €4.4m in subscriptions but claim these customers got €6m in discounts… wouldn’t that be the entire point of such a scheme? You give the members discounts in the hope they’ll book more often.

They lost money on it because it was an absolute load of shite.

“Ah feck, lads cmon, who’s stupid idea was this to reward our customers? What business do you think we are in??”
The idea of ‘frequenting’ Ryanair as a choice when flying is strange to me. I don’t fly often but last time I picked Ryanair the only thing I felt after was an overwhelming desire to never use them again. Here’s hoping their McKinsey consultants continue to drive the business into the ground

Ryanair’s idea of rewarding customers would be treating customers less shite.

Frequent Flyer programmes should be illegal. Climate crisis anyone?

A half wit could have told them it wasn’t going to work. Sure if you’re spending thousands on one passenger in business, but a few hundred in economy? Not a chance.

Not sure what the point of that was. Nobody flies with Ryanair unless they have to. No discounts will make a difference here.

A loyalty scheme for Ryanair was a bizarre concept anyway. Their whole business model is “fuck you, but you’ll fly with us anyway”.
I don’t think anyone would willingly choose Ryanair if all things were equal. They don’t care about their customers, will milk every cent and are brazenly open about it.

Was the whole point of it not that flyers where going to save money?

Well, turns out not enough European flyers are into Ryanair’s brand sadomaso…who knew….

They sold it to me on the basis that it would pay for itself (from my point of view) over three flights. I try to avoid them, but still fly with them six to ten times a year, depending.
I won’t miss it. The terms and conditions were stupidly stringent anyway.
