As the article rightly points out, Europeans don’t actually treat Norwegians as well as they deserve.
People don’t like the rich — especially when they are unwilling to simply hand over their wealth in the name of “solidarity”.
For example, just recently, a proposal was made by one MP for Norway to guarantee to Belgium that it would cover any potential risks if Euroclear were to unfreeze Russian assets and transfer them from Euroclear to the European Commission for use in favor of Ukraine.
Norway said no, and many on this sub were outraged, saying things like, “What would it cost them to do it? They’re rich!”

EU is arrogant and undemocratic, glad we realised before we joined.

So these last few years, Germany’s been buying cheap Norwegian electricity(100% renewable) at the cost of massive energy price rises for the Norwegian middle class. This was an agreement we were pushed into to join the EU electricity market.
Then recently it was made public that Norway will get steel and other tariffs from the EU despite the EEA supposedly protecting us from that.
Then there was the talk about Norway having some sort of moral obligation to guarantee extreme sums of money to loans to Ukraine(despite being one of the top donors per GDP in the world already) because Belgian and Dutch bankers don’t want to touch frozen Russian money.
All in all, I’m surprised EU support is still as high as 28%.

The poll was made right after EU put on tariff on alloy steels from Norway. Made quite the headlines in Norway as EU has never done anything like that before – being a part of the inner market has always been the main purpose of the EEA treaty.

So this is largely some people moving from “Yes” to “Uncertain” after EU introduced the tariff on ferroalloys.
I’m more concerned about what it did on Iceland. There’s a chance that the EU killed Icelands membership with that tariff.

Norway is way too wealthy to join the EU. They would just have to give, give and give again, in the name of federal altruism. Better off out of it.

Norway gets super rich by letting others burn their fossils. They also despise other filthy fossil-fueled countries, because Norway is green – even though it’s thanks to those filthy countries buying and burning Norway’s fossils. They have their security and their money. I am suprised the support for joining the EU is as high as it is.
