That was a powerful impact statement.
What a lovely chap
This is another case for asylums rather than prisons, really. I’m not sure anyone with that level of mental issue will ever be safe for the rest of society. They are expensive and difficult to run well, yes, but the costs of having people like this released back into the community after serving time for each crime they do is also very expensive and socially corrosive.
And I know they deliberately select the least flattering photo they can find of criminals (and conversely, find the most friendly looking one they can get for victims), but come on, that is not a normal looking person in that photo at all.
