For one, 2025 hasn’t ended yet so I doubt there are reliable numbers, but also there were 86,000+ divorces total in 2024 which makes me think that this is generated by some bot sweeping the internet for stats and interpreting the number as 86%.

That would be the ratio of divorces this year against marriages this year. Since there are many more couples already married than new marriages, a high percentage doesn’t mean that everybody is divorcing.

Quick internet search and… the data is not accurate.
It takes a second to Google this, but no an 86% divorce rate for marriages that started within a year would be insane.
