I always find it strange that those who are unemployed for more than 12 months get a bonus, while those unemployed for under 12 months dont.

1.5 million on benefit……I wonder how many of these pensioners are sitting on massive cash deposits in the bank?

1.5 million on benefits. Seems sustainable

Many hard working people get no Christmas bonus at all.

As someone on Disability, it’s nice to get. But the reality is 90% of people will pump it straight back into the economy. My bonus will likely just go straight to the gas company this month.

Do people on a CE scheme get any bonus?

Great, Christmas is hard enough on a decent salary. I’ve been lucky enough to be employed for just about all of my working life. I wouldn’t begrudge it.

The wording “bonus” is offputting tbh. It’s a payment to people on low fixed incomes to help them with the increased costs of winter and Christmas. There’s a handful of long term dole users people might perceive as being scroungers, but the majority of people getting the payment are on very tight incomes who don’t want to be there, and I’m very happy they get a leg up at this time of year.
Should be called a “winter cost supplement” or something.

the harder i work and the less money i seem to have as time goes on, i have to say i do envy those on welfare payments. i just keep thinking “why am i working so hard for so little money when i could be paid roughly the same and i’m not breaking my back every day and getting abuse from my manager and customers?” what a bleak world we live in
