It’s not just putin. It’s the whole population of Muscovy. Read the article:

Of course he shouldn’t be allowed to. If he does, it will be one of the most shameful things an American president has ever done. Allowing Putler and all the Russians who have commited horrendous war crimes to get away with it would be an absolute disgrace.
How would it even work?
The arrest warrant for war crimes has been issued by the ICC, which is an entity the USA doesn’t even recognize. How could Trump nullify the judgment of an entity he doesn’t even recognize?

Yeh trump doesn’t believe either should exist, otherwise he would be in prison instead of trying to become a dictator.

It’s not about a Trump pardon. It’s about Trump trying to get the EU and Ukraine to sign a US peace deal that gives ‘full amnesty’ to Putin. Basically, way more powerful than any pardon would be.
EU and Ukraine won’t sign any deal that includes that. Putin wouldn’t sign a deal that doesn’t include it.
So the war goes on.
