Consiglio vivamente il libro “The German Genius” di Peter Watson a chiunque viva in Germania come espatriato o immigrato.
Copre i contributi intellettuali e scientifici della Germania dal 1750 al 1950: filosofia, scienza, musica, letteratura, tutto. Mi ha davvero aiutato a capire le basi culturali e perché le cose funzionano come funzionano qui.
Se vuoi andare oltre la comprensione superficiale della cultura e della storia tedesca, questa è un’ottima lettura.

I’d honestly say, there are 2 books that perfectly encapsulate the german spirit at different periods in time. The absolute best for this is Buddenbrooks. Faust is similar, but there is more time between then and now, so its less relevant imo.
Even if you hated it during school, go read Buddenbrooks again. It fits so insanely well.
