Im sorry if some countries are missing, but i couldn’t find its regional homicide rate 🙁

Also tell me if some of you guys would be interested in me posting the Top 200 ranking as alot of European regions are mixed with USA states.

Americans like to be the best, guess they win.

Really doing Europeans a favour, having a negative example not to follow can be just as useful as a good example to follow.

using a continuous color gradient instead of discrete colors would have been more informative.

So 3 regions in Europe in the top 50, okay 🙂 and crime capital malmö has a lower homicide rate than every US state lol.

      Massachusetts is yellow? That’s surprising.

Also, my state is red. uh-oh

This change is greatly appreciated, thank you. More nuanced discussion of the problem is more productive.

    7. Great work OP. This illustrates really well how much progress the US needs to make with respect to violent crime rates

    8. That one yellow region in Poland looks shameless. Nothing is happening here.

I am sure the guns are going to work soon and make the US states very, very safe. They just need a few more is my guess.

    10. What’s your source for Romania? You don’t have it listed at the bottom, and to have the whole country all one colour is a *little* surprising (the national average is indeed somewhere around 1.3).

(Counterintuitively, I’d expect it to be higher in some of the provinces than the cities…)

Why Is Corsica so high? Is it related to fights between families or because of Napoleon?

Everything i learned from that island i learned it from Asterix & Obelix, so i need more explications.

Don’t show this to the reactionary “Europe is becoming unsafe” crowd that think France and Germany and Brittain are Warzones while Eastern Europe is the safest place on earth lmfao.

Surprised that Greece has such a discrepancy but I live in the blue area. Tf is going on in the south?

As an American, I just believe that something fundamental about the country makes us more violent. We were founded on violence. We are almost always bombing some country somewhere in the world. We have an extensive gun culture and idolize gunslingers and cowboys, not to mention our looser gun laws.

It’s much more of a rough and tumble atmosphere, at least within the cultural consciousness. In Europe, the stakes are lower. You can’t get as rich, but you are also protected from a lot of the worse of poverty. In the US, you can become unfathomably wealthy, o become absolutely destitute. Like the Wild West, where men from around the world to make a name and fortune for themselves and then figure it out themselves, with the government sitting a lot of it out.

Just my thoughts, as an American.

Love how the right wing (including lots of US pundits) make out that crime in Europe is off the scale due to immigration when in reality most of the time it is very low compared to the US; that European cities are all rife with no-go zones and give the worst slums in Asia and Africa a run for their money — when in reality it’s cities like San Francisco and Detroit that are the real urban hellholes

If you don’t count those unlucky russian businessmen and politicians, who fell off their windows, the numbers there will be much lower 🤣

East Macedonia and Thrace mentioned 🇬🇷🇬🇷☀️💪💪💪🐬🐬

    20. You know what, thanks for this. I always argue with my fellow American coworkers about how unsafe they think Europe is. They’re always on about how Europe has gone to hell because of the Middle Easterners and Africans they’re letting in. But even then, they’ll probably still say the feds are fudging numbers. We’re fucked as a country.

    21. Surprised that there isn’t the usual division between north and south Italy

Let them use their precious guns, a shitty nation that uses guns as a pacifier to keep the population quiet.

I am a Corsican. There is war here. Alien killing people in the street. Dog eating our meal and Knives attack is a dance.

People are weird. 🙁 They will believe anything as long as it fit what they want to believe.
