Let’s hope not. The Turing scheme has a vastly higher take up and doesn’t come with us paying vast sums for foreign students due to the ludicrous imbalance.

We should charge the Europeans for the privilege of having access to the British education system. If they want to have the benefits of the system they should pay into it of course!

It’s true that we will also get access to the European system but we already have that via Turing funding, which also funds exchanges with the rest of the world and is, IMO, a better scheme.

      What do you mean aims?

Its massively more expensive than the current scheme and means less students get to study abroad with less country’s to pick from.

its a significant downgrade that the EU have been trying to push because it means the UK ends up funding EU students more than its own.

I feel like this is more a symbolic issue for part of the EUphilic base, rather than good policy. At least, if the EU demand we pay for the privilege. Really, they should be paying us for this; there were always more of them coming here to take advantage of our excellent education system than the reverse.

Despite the scepticism when it was set up, the replacement (Turing) scheme has better outcomes for British students, there’s no reason to sign up to this again apart from politics.
