Mia nonna ha provato a ordinare un Lihapiirakka ma il dipendente non ha capito finché non è stato chiarito che si trattava di una torta di carne. C’è stato anche un malinteso quando ho ordinato la segale come contorno. Ho dovuto chiarirlo come pane finlandese.
Nessuno di noi parla fluentemente ma capiamo come pronunciare certe parole (meno la R rotolante ma ci proviamo)

I think reindeer omelette tells everything. During 34 years I have lived in Finland I have never heard anyone would put reindeer in omelette before.

Just to check, you are complaining about lack of Finnish speaking staff at a restaurant in America when ordering some non-Finnish abomination making it seem to people here that you were in a Finnish restaurant where nobody spoke Finnish? 🤣
This is pretty much as finnish as norway
to be fair, i am a native finnish speaker and very fluent in english but if someone asked me for “rye on the side” i would also have problems understanding that it is bread they want.
just for fun, it would be nice to see a pic of the menu!
