The booster is good for a couple of years, then protection wanes, and it’s the sort of thing that would be given at 13/14, rather than later in the teens.
It’s not like smallpox which protects you for life.

I had meningitis whilst I was at University and it was bad. I think it should have been given out to most Uni students or at least awareness raised it’s available.

I thought it was already offered? I remember me and all my friends going to get ours done the summer between a levels and starting uni. Did they stop offering it?

I remember being vaccinated before starting uni in 2016 and was sure it included Meningitis B but apparently not? This is terrifying and so sad.

My uni wouldn’t let you complete enrollment without proof of an up to date meningitis vaccination. I had assumed that was standard.

Tragic story, obviously. But…
> “The Meningitis B vaccine should be offered on the NHS – there should never be a cost barrier to life-saving vaccines.
OK, but there IS a cost. You can sit there all day saying things should be free, but they ain’t.
If money was infinite we could ensure that the entire country’s population is protected against everything for which a vaccine or other preventative treatment exists… but it isn’t, so we can’t. It’s really that simple.
