There should be something the Verbraucherschutz can do, since its misleading… am not versed well enough to say what exactly though…

If they clarify in booking that is only dogs, then yes, else no. U will need to get a lawyer for this.

I don’t understand, you booked through Booking.com yet they said you booked through a partner company?
Who is the partner company? Seems you need to contact them?

I would recommend contacting a lawyer via your legal insurance. And if you don’t have an insurance, then get one. Alternatively, you could complain to them on Booking.com.

You have to take this up with booking.com, you can’t trust them to have everything right (sadly).
Are you sure the Hotel has on their website that they take cats?

That would be a different story.

You always have to look up the Hotels website or better call.

I was never in a Hotel that allowed cats, only some dog friendly Hotels who made it very visible on their websites with adressing it, talking about fees (or lack of).

  6. It is unfortunately a gotcha, some hosts don’t want cats – I had similar issue in Poland, and they refused to elaborate why, it was not allergies because the host claimed they themselves have cats, they don’t particularly hate cats, but just won’t accept them.

Everytime I book with booking/hotel.com I send an email to the hotel right after to confirm I am okay, lot of hotels have pet friendly rooms and need to know you have a pet before you come in so they can book accordingly anyway. I have a boxer and some hotels refuse big dogs, so it’s always better to confirm with them. Advice for next time 🙂

Cats pee on carpets, but when it comes to Germans, report them to booking and mandatory rating on Google maps and trustpilot.

It looks like the error is with booking.com, if they have not mentioned the restriction. You’ll have to contact them for a refund.

When I read “Pets allowed”, I think of dogs. Who brings a cat on their vacation? Very odd.

this is the precaution i had this happen worldwide:

    Pets allowed === Dogs Allowed.

Other pets like Cats, Rabbits etc always message pre-booking.
this is not just a Germany thing i had same in Vietnam, Poland, Czech republic and others.

also do a chargeback on it as this is a mistake on their side.
always pay with a mastercard issues by a strong institution which can rugpull others example my local bank has saved my ass and does not even ask much just: so… it was not like described?… yeah… and if it was older than 180 days (they do till 180 days no issues).

[booking.com](http://booking.com) is not responsible for that bullshit as they wash their hands i had rooms booked on there where i came to a beach resort and was found out that the address was a parking lot and hotel was fake they refused to refund me and yeah… (google reviews existed but the hotel was disbanded and demolished i guess).

Try to check always hotel website, call or email them (call is best), google review and then pay with a card which accepts chargebacks best if you can double-dip like pay through paypal using a chargeback card so you get paypal and bank at your side.
