In a sense, peace *only* needs a deal with Russia, because “peace” is short for “Russia stops bombing and attacking Ukraine and takes its troops home”. If Russia did that, Ukraine wouldn’t have to do or agree to anything else – just “Russians go away”.

The problem is that you need to “deal with” Putin and his regime like you “deal with” any other aggressive wild animal – and Trump won’t help there because (a) Putin won’t tell him to and (b) there’s no money in it for him.
