Because it’s majority?
Fair enough – it certainly isn’t endangered the way actual minority languages are, and it’s more *oppressor* than oppressed with Putin in power next door.
Moreover, Putin’s believe that people speaking Russian in a country makes it fair game for invasion also makes Russian a problem in a way no other language is. If he wants Russian to be more accepted, maybe he should renounce that policy?
This is as it should be and *long overdue* given how generation after generation of Russians (i.e. not just Putin) have systematically (ab)used their oh-so-precious ~~native language~~ wayward East Slavic dialect as a vile instrument in their genocidal toolbox for [Russification](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russification#Linguistics).
russian is dialect not language, a mix of Ukrainian / Ruthanian and Polish
