>Ryan Odusanya (20) of Bremore Pastures Drive, Balbriggan, Dublin pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to holding €20,000 in criminal proceeds in his bank account on September 5, 2023. Odusanya was not involved in setting up or operating the scam.
>
>Counsel for Odusanya told the court that her client was “a money mule” who had responded to an advert on Snapchat offering a small cash reward for the use of a bank account.
>She said that Odusanya came from a good family and was a promising student who won “student of the year” at one point. She said his mother works for the health service and is father works as a taxi driver.
>“I am getting fed up with young people coming into this court and saying I was young and I was stupid. Every one of them knows people are going to benefit and people are going to lose”, he said.
>He adjourned sentence to Thursday and remanded the defendant, who had been out on bail, into custody until then.
Well they didn’t do it because they’re old and smart did they?
Young, stupid, greedy, reckless, mercenary… there are plenty of things you could call it
Damn, if only these judges had some kind of constitutional power to punish people like that
Then maybe he should find a new job?
He came from a good family, all you need to know
It’s scary that you could rape a child and end up in less trouble if you were up in front of this judge, I’d throw a Hail Mary and say I needed the money for kiddie porn; he might be more lenient on me.
We all were young at some stage, maybe stupid, but most were not wasting time commiting crimes
I can pretty much 100% guarantee that during sentencing the judge will use that the defendant was “young and stupid” as a mitigating circumstance.
No sorry, but I don’t buy it. It’s the same scenario every time; a young, bright student who is also supposedly dumb enough to believe they weren’t doing anything illegal. They were greedy and believed they wouldn’t get caught
I’m going to plead old & stupid, that will fool him!
