More wealth redistribution and more money to landlords then. Would be interesting to know how they’re defining poverty here too.
Getting families out of temporary accommodation is helpful for everyone.
I’m curious how that will be achieved, they froze local homing allowance rates since 2024 which doesn’t make it easy to get suitable housing without paying extra.
Are they going to bypass the standard housing element of Universal Credit system for these? Government won’t have much influence over housing associations, and they tend to be on top of the list already. But if there’s no availability, there’s little that can be done without making more housing available to them, which isn’t quick or cheap.
They need stop pausing the LHA if they want to help people.
Out of temporary accommodation and into what homes? I guess this just means they’re skipping the queue so someone else is stuck their longer, rather than being anything meaningful towards fixing things.
