  1. **French Naval Fusiliers Fired on Drones Above the Île Longue Base, Sanctuary of France’s Nuclear Deterrence**

The Île Longue base, which houses France’s nuclear ballistic missile submarines (SNLE), is protected by 120 maritime gendarmes in coordination with naval fusiliers. The battalion of fusiliers, responsible for safeguarding the submarine base at Île Longue (Finistère), carried out several anti-drone shots after drones flew over the area on Thursday evening, according to the gendarmerie.

The base shelters the nuclear ballistic missile submarines (SNLE) of France’s nuclear deterrence force. Five drones were detected around 7:30 p.m. above the base, which borders the Brest roadstead. An anti-drone and search system was immediately deployed. Contacted by AFP, the Atlantic maritime prefecture and the public prosecutor’s office did not immediately respond.

*A Base Protected by 120 Gendarmes*

Drone overflights in this restricted zone are not uncommon. During the night of November 17 to 18, a drone flight “above the Crozon peninsula,” which includes Île Longue, was reported, though it did not fly over military installations. As the sanctuary of France’s nuclear deterrence, the Île Longue base is guarded by 120 maritime gendarmes working alongside naval fusiliers.

The base provides maintenance for France’s four SNLE submarines, with at least one permanently at sea to ensure nuclear deterrence.

Visibility conditions were particularly good Thursday evening above the Brest roadstead, due to the full Moon and its close orbit to Earth, a frequent phenomenon known as a supermoon.

Reports of drone overflights have multiplied in recent months at airports and other sensitive sites, including military ones, across northern Europe. Leaders of these countries suspect Moscow’s involvement behind such actions

The article makes no mention of whether or not they actually hit, and/or recovered anything?

Is that not a little odd?

Has any European nation successfully taken one of these drones down and successfully recovered the debris?
