I think 2 week smo country falls into the would like to -column

  5. Seems odd participation in some clown show ( supposedly song contest) is such a big deal.  Well, bread and circuses I guess.

Eurovision is turning into short-form content, very modern.

    Stupid times we live in.

A music contest is not about music but only about Politics.

And buying a car is not about the car but only about Politics.

I think 90% of us should just not participate. Germany and the UK apparently deem it much more important that Israel, not even physically in Europe, should compete than 90% of the countries ACTUALLY IN EUROPE.

So this Eurovision can be germany+uk+israel. I’m sure they’ll have a lot of fun.

And then we can simply make our own Eurovision without the 3 of them lol

Kosovo would also be going into the “Would like an invitation” category

Apparently Belgium will participate. The news just got out. RTBF had the deciding vote (the Walloon broadcaster) and they have already selected a candidate. VRT (the Flemish broadcaster) does not share that decision, but has no say in this year’s Eurovision. That’s disappointing news (as a Belgian) and very typical for how things go here.

The music in Eurovision is crap anyway. It has been for a long while. I’d have been fine with it getting canned years ago.

  12. So it’s Okay to Exclude Russia for invading Ukraine, but Israel is ok?
We should boycott it, if our countries won’t we should refuse the watch it.

Israel is paying big money to Bulgaria to participate.

Highlight the number of countries documented to have gunned down men, women and children seeking aid and then bulldozing the dead and still-living wounded into mounds to hide the crime.

Slovakia isn’t because of Israel. They are just too poor to do it

Technically, Finland has some conditions, but I doubt they are going to lead anywhere:

According to af Björkesten, Yle is preparing to take part in the competition, but the decision “has not yet been carved in stone”.
Yle’s management team has set conditions for the public broadcaster’s participation in Eurovision in the coming years. Yle will evaluate whether or not to take part on a year-by-year basis.
“It now looks very likely that we will participate, but one criterion is that there is a convincing number of participating companies. That remains to be seen,” said af Björkesten. https://yle.fi/a/74-20198044

Anyway national qualifications will be a shitshow. We already had several participants last year, who announced that they will not go even if they won the qualis. I guess they could be screened beforehand, but that will create another set of problems.

  17. Belgium (the walloons this year) decided they will participate, unbelieveable.

If israel can be in eurovision, I dont understand the hesitance for Kazakhstan. I mean its the greatest country in the world…

would y’all let the big ‘zak into eurovision?

In my opinion, the whole debacle started with banning Russia. The base idea of Eurovision was to unite Europe through music, aside from politics and ideology. The way Eurovision has evolved, it itself has become an expression of a specific political belief. It should be as independent as possible. And now more and more countries check out/get banned because of current day events.
Eurovision doesn’t work that way. They should rethink the whole concept again.
