In October, new manufacturing orders in Germany increased by 1,5 percent compared to the previous month, according to data released by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis).
The positive trend in new orders is largely attributable to the increase recorded in the aircraft, ship, train, and military vehicle manufacturing sector (+87,1 percent). The 11,9 percent increase in metal production and processing also had a positive impact on the overall result. Conversely, the 16,2 percent decline in orders for electrical equipment had a negative impact, the report states.
Interesting that the bump is mostly aircraft/ships/military rather than broader industry. Good for short-term numbers, but I’d love to see similar growth in renewables or rail infrastructure manufacturing instead.
