Donald’s “friend Vladimir” did this.
Why would anyone drone strike Chornobyl?
It lost the ability to keep its internal arch structure in clean, dry air. First to prevent contamination – so we don’t need another Newer-New-Safe-Confinement to cover it, after the original NSC is done with its task of dismantling the Shelter Object (task not started yet, unlikely to start in… anytime soon). Second to prevent corrosion.
Can be fixed, but it’s going to be annoying since it means working close to the original shelter object.
However, there’s no reason to spread panic like media does (again!) because of “CHERNOBYL!!!”. If the original Shelter Object was to suddenly collapse (which is rather unlikely), the NSC would still contain all the nasty dust from being blown around.
Those little people really put into perspective how big this thing is lol
The problem is far worse than it looks.
The roof is made from a sandwich of metal sheet and insulation foam, it is thick too.. It has to be airtight and temperature controlled, and the way it works is that you can really only do it once. The fire spread in the insulation between the sheets HUGE areas, you can basically say it is completely lost on large sections. To really fix it, they need to replace it, unless someone comes up with a brilliant idea how to fix it. It can hold itself, that is good news. But the damage is far, far more extensive than how it looks. If i remember right, basically everything you see in the pic is burned between the inner- and outermost layers.
