Classic DWP apparatchik blaming people saving the country a fortune.

    > Some carers who fell foul of the benefit’s outdated and complex rules felt so shamed, distressed and desperate they contemplated suicide, the review found. It described being caught in the system as like being “at the whim of a faceless machine”.

What’re the odds that Neil Couling has that faceless machine quote framed on his wall somewhere?

  3. > This is at odds with the government’s own position, which accepts the DWP itself was the main cause of overpayments because of its confusing guidance and unclear reporting processes.

Someone wants to keep their job.

Maybe, if we’re really lucky the government will realise the department is a monstrosity run by people intent on doing as much harm as possible to the people they are supposed to deliver services to.

There just seems to be a rather rotten culture at the DWP… A culture of blaming others rather than face up to and address its own failures… I include its punitive, toxic, most counterproductive welfare benefits policies in this too!
