Court papers show the pathologist says John McManus tried to keep his late wife Emma’s cocaine-related toxicology results secret. Toxicology confirmed cocaine metabolites, and the coroner ruled her death “cocaine-associated.” John challenged the verdict, claiming bias and misconduct, but the Barbados Supreme Court rejected his case entirely.

Its terrible that 3 children lost their mother, but just because the family are rich doesn’t mean you get to set the narrative you want and treat with contempt professionals who are doing their job correctly

These rich people think they can get away with anything. And sadly enough in most cases they can.

Addiction is a part of life for everyone. Either directly or indirectly. Alcohol, coke, prescription drugs. We are all vulnerable. We all know someone or we are addicts. I think the more we can talk openly, honestly about those issues. The better for us all. Rich or poor. The less shame. The more we can develop solutions and understanding. RIP this mum. If we could deal with our Shame around this, her family would not feel the need to challenge medical experts in court. It’s heartbreaking for all involved.

Tragic loss of life but too much money probably a factor in this.

I mean I can’t blame him. Ignoring using money as a means to get your way the underlining thing is he doesn’t want to have a dead loved one tarnished. It’s a general rule of etiquette to not speak ill of the dead…..

I can’t imagine losing your wife and the biggest thing on your mind is your embarrassment over their habit.

This report at the time seems very different from what the Inquest hearing has found.

    https://www.irishexaminer.com/news/arid-40199604.html

“passed away on Wednesday, December 30, at a medical centre after she had complained of feeling unwell”

This is from the Inquest hearing.

“When he went into his bedroom he found his wife “sitting up in bed with some pillow[s] behind her”.

“She seemed to have no life in her face, but her hands were still warm,” he said.

Attempts to revive her were unsuccessful. She was pronounced dead after being transferred to the Sandy Crest Medical Centre”
