Three Ukrainians were arrested after Warsaw police officers found spy gadgets and hacking equipment in their vehicle. The men were unable to explain why they acquired these items. “When asked more specific questions, they forgot their English and pretended not to understand what was being said,” said Sergeant Kacper Wojteczko.

The men were traveling with a spy device detector and hacking equipment. Sergeant Kacper Wojteczko from the city center police station said the men were stopped during a traffic stop on Senatorska Street. Two other men were traveling in the driver’s Toyota.

It turned out that they were all Ukrainian citizens, aged 43, 42, and 39. “In a conversation with police officers, they admitted that they were ‘traveling around Europe,’ having arrived in Poland a few hours earlier and planning to travel to Lithuania soon,” noted Sergeant Wojteczko.

Officers searched the car and found items that could be used to interfere with the country’s strategic IT systems and breach IT and telecommunications networks. They seized items including a spy device detector, advanced hacking equipment, antennas, laptops, a large number of SIM cards, routers, portable hard drives, and cameras.

The court granted the prosecutor’s request and ordered the men detained for three months. Police are considering various scenarios, investigating when and why the men came to Poland.

I mean of course they’re going to pretend to not understand.

Do you expect spies to just go « Aw damn, you got us ».

They’ve finally nailed the agents in the act. Fingers crossed it makes it to court this time. In all past cases, the suspects walked free — either for lack of evidence or because they couldn’t prove malicious intent.
