Surprised Sweden isn’t more expensive than us tbh with their state monopoly system set up to discourage drinking.

Isn’t it 2nd most expensive in the EU, since Norway, Iceland and Turkey aren’t in the EU?

If the Eu average is 100, how can it go from 84 to 285?? This makes no sense.

Minimum pricing was brought in when it was shown not to work elsewhere.
How are these decisions allowed to be taken when the evidence does not back them up?

I have gotten sick of it at this point, I work 10-12 hour shifts up to 6 times a week and the one or two beers I use to medicate myself in the boozer or when I get home are just getting more and more expensive. In the new year I am going to have a go at brewing my own. I have a mate already growing his own tobacco and another who has successfully taken his house off the grid. We should all start to go a bit “The Good Life” on the nanny state and the corporations.

Looks like a win win for the alcohol lobbying of government. Now take 5% of their profits and invest it in recovery and treatment centres.

Surely an upstart political party could sweep to victory on the promise of making pints cheap.
That a good thing for health and crime rates people need to drink a lot less.

5 years ago I was in the Bucharest version of Temple Bar and got a pint of Guinness for €1.80. it’s literally shipped there from Dublin. How is it possible that it’s almost 3 times cheaper and is shipped 2500km?!

Why is the UK not in this but other non-eu countries are?
