      What if Russia leaves the Donbas instead. That would be a more fair solution.

      The US has been a puppet state of Russia since they installed Trump a decade ago. Europe will have to choose between its own security and its friendship with the US.

      The situation is this: if Ukraine doesn’t give up the Donbas now, and if the Russians conquer it, they will then want the Donbas plus something extra.
      If Ukraine has the strength to keep containing the Kremlin,then refusing to concede territory is a sound strategy.
      If it lacks that strength,the strategy is flawed.
      Trump is clearly showing that the Russians have bought him off by ceding some of their own assets frozen in Euroclear.
      So Europe needs to assess its own capabilities:whether it can sustain arms deliveries or not.

      American oligarchy is itching to get in cahoots with russian oligarchy and exploit eastern Ukraine resources while framing their behavior as seeking “peace” and Nobel peace prize.

      Keep in mind that if Europe doesn’t provide Ukraine the strength to resist the US-Russian demands it is not only Ukrainian territory that is given away.

      One of the first points of the peace plan is “all ambiguities within the last 30 years are considered settled”. Classic Russian speak. Does this also mean the Russian occupation of Georgia and Transnistria are “settled”?

      It also means Russia getting a veto on NATO expansion, Russia and the US formalising Russian claims on the North Pole, Europe (and particularly Poland) losing sovereign decision making, giving $100 billion to the US, and Europe having to agree to effectively neutering the ICC and ignoring all the war crimes and crimes against humanity (with all the future repercussions that entails).

      Plus any future Ukrainian state will have to give equal status to the Russian language, Russian media propaganda, and the Russian church – all of which can be used to elect a future Moscow-friendly regime similar to the Georgian playbook.

      All as the US declares Europe their new enemy, and Russia their new partner in their National Security Strategy…

      It is in the European interest to resist American demands, if not for Ukraine, then selfishly for itself.

      So much is clear.

      Perhaps at best the US ‘thinks’ it stands with itself, but I’d dare to cast doubt even on that notion.

      Donbas is only Ukrainian if Ukraine can take and hold it. Instead of waiting for US policy shifts, Europe should instead help Ukraine retake Donbas.

      Europe keeps complaining but Europe is not offering an alternative.

      Ukraine is losing the war. Give up now, or keep fighting and give up more later. You guys can all hate trump all you want the fact is Ukraine has no cards to play and Europe and America are not sending their sons to die for Donbas.

      Disregarding for a moment the unfairness of this demand, this just seems like bad negotiating on the US’s part.

      Ukraine can’t, even out of sheer pragmatism and desperation, give up Donbas without any sort of guarantee that Russia won’t just keep going at the first opportunity. It would be idiotic for them to do so from a self-preservation standpoint.

      Unless the US and Russia agree to let Ukraine have some sort of foreign peacekeeping force or other security guarantees that can’t easily be broken, they must realize that this demand will remain a non-starter.

      Ok. Time to fight on without US support. The US should also be actively side balled in all negotiations now – it is clearly on the side of the Kremlin and cannot be allowed to interfere. These are now solely European affairs and Europe really has to step up.

      Actually this is wrong. Russia doesn’t want just the eastern Ukraine. Moscow simply wants to dismantle Ukraine as a whole either by military force, either by installing a puppet government in Kyiv. One has to be really naive to imagine that Russia will stop the aggression for the simple fact that Ukraine will give away the Donbas region. Trump simply wants to use the same approaches in the western hemisphere where he was venting his ideas with Canada being 51-th state or Greenland that he will take out by force. Europe has to resists on its own for at least one year from now, until the mid term US elections of next year. By that time Trump may actually lose the majority in congress and this will mark the end of his reign.

      You know…when I see what is happening to Ukraine im grateful that Bosnian army and government were able to wrestle this, to be charitable, fragmented and complicated but whole country in negotiations. Dear God this just insane humiliation. This not just rewarding an invader. This is basically joint invasion by Russia and US
