Making not much of a difference. Putin is already supporting them massively.

First of all, I hope that the midterms will reintroduce checks and balances. Regarding Germany, which is mentioned in the title, the next election is scheduled for March 2029, so there is at least some hope that the Trump madness will be a bit reduced until then.

No worries, according to recent polls, we don’t need (more) external interference to align more with Russia.

Russia and Israel are already meddling in our politics, to great extent, one day this will be just a fight of foreign powers to see who gets to take us for a ride?

Guarantee most, if not all major Western European countries will have a far-right leader in charge by the end of the decade. Next few years are basically preparing like a Cat 5 hurricane is coming to devastate the place

On a side note the Danish defense intelligence service makes an annual threat assesment document. For the first time ever USA is mentioned in the latest as a potential threat for Danish soverignty and safety.

The wording is flowery and neutral but two of the sentences used is:

“The United States no longer rules out using military force against its allies”.

“The United States now uses its economic and technological strength as a means of power, including against allies and partners”

The latest Trump announcement of USA wants the break up of the EU and pro Trump (USA?) leaders by means of influencing the democratic election process is not helping either establishing USA as a trustworthy ally.

  9. Oh, don’t worry – we already elected the Putin-lovers here in Czechia.

Way ahead of the pack. Only Hungary and Slovakia have us outpaced.

But yep, the others will soon follow. UK is right on our tails. Germany, Austria… it won’t be long. The more Europeans believe the “we’ll kick out all immigrants and save Europe” crap the pro-Putin far-right is spewing, the sooner we all follow America.

They’ll come, at least they’ll try, but Franco nostalgia is not strong in Spain and those far-right imbeciles are end of evolution curve anyway.

    For Trump read Putin.

He’s been trying for years now and with no success outside Brexit. That woke everyone else in the EU up. Unlikely to succeed again.

It’s really unfortunate that the european elections happened in 2024, before the return of the moronic obese orange and its neofascist party.

With Eu elections held in 2025 or 2026 it would have been the perfect moment to ask once and for all europeans about the kind of society they want to live in, and if they entrust the european project with this desire.

The coalition coming out on top, whatever it would have been, would have been blessed with a true political mandate to deal with the democratic breakdown in the USA. And given the answers to many polls held throughout Europe, it would have been a mandate for a resounding pushback.

A simple democratic win in the midterms in 2026 or in 2028 won’t be enough to righten the ship. The MAGA far right is jacking off about the realignment and such, but it is absolutely not happening. The country remains dramatically split. And a meagre D majority would not be able to defeat the fascist worldview of the traitors in the GOP.

Democrats need to turn much more aggressive in their platform against big business, maintain toughness on the border, ensure no turnback on social justice (but no emphasis on the matter) and promise dramatic campaign and corruption reforms. So a mix between New Deal and Progressive era, to root out the far right rot at the heart of american democracy.

I believe that witht such a platform, Dems can win a resounding majority in 2028. And this is the only scenario in which a reconciliation can happen between democratic states.

The USA, the EU, Canada, AUNZ, and far eat democracies, combined, would still hold the cards in the XXIth century. The wreckage of the nationalists everywhere is a historic blunder.

The billionaires want corrupt little populist with a pinch of fascism (well the cap off and the whole content of fascism dropped into some parties) so every little country is a billionaire’s paradise to exploit.

Trump don’t need to do anything. Europe is lost already. Next round of elections are going to be full facism all across the continent.

Is Trump so afraid of the EU that he wants to disband it? We need to stand together and protect what we have made. The EU may not be perfect but, we can only improve if we protect what we have already built.

  17. No. None of the EU leaders will fight back because they still hope and think we can return to the world order that began after 1945.

Hoping this all goes away in 3 years after an US election is crazy.

We are slow walking into a disaster.

Should be easy for anti trump parties to gain votes just like the Canadian federal election earlier this year
