I call for greater scrutiny of parents who go for tapas and leave their children alone in a foreign country

Regardless of who is saying it, no one ever seems to really say what they actually want from “press regulation”.

Yes the press do need greater scrutiny. They are not reporting news but pushing an agenda. Their attack dogs are insane.

However, bit rich for him to be calling for it….someone that benefitted from one sided reporting 20 years on, who has got funding and protection beyond any missing child case ever, and who has refused to explain the insane inaccuracies in his story that is not examined by the same press that spend months talking about Rachel reeves chess accomplishments or Keir starmer having a beer with his takeaway curry.

He has some neck, left their kids alone so they could go out, and for some reason beyond me, still gets millions in funding 20 years on to find a missing child in a case where they have never explained themselves.

Few people deserve to be hounded by the press, but they did bring it upon themselves by leaving a 3 year old alone in a hotel room while they went out for the evening. Very irresponsible parenting

I’m so sick of the McCanns, the money wasted still searching for her but fuck all the kids that went missing yesterday…

To be fair the media treatment was INSANE . I don’t actually know how they survived it (on top of the grief ) .

I thought it was quite telling that Gerry McCann called out that press had distorted what had happened with Caroline Flack.

Whilst I agree both were hounded by press and there needs to be regulation against that kind of harassment, however to say her story was distorted when by her own account she committed domestic abuse for me is a classic case of a villain supporting another villain.
