The Koralmbahn opening is a game changer for regional connectivity. Reducing travel time so drastically will not only make commuting easier but also likely boost economic activity between Graz and Klagenfurt. That 33km tunnel must have been a massive engineering challenge, and it’s amazing to see it completed successfully.
Austria needs a tunnel between Vienna and Moscow.
$5.6B for a tunnel that took twenty years to complete ans connects a population of 1.2m.
Hmm..
Makes me feel a little better about the second ave subway, which took 60 years to complete, cost less, at $4.7B, but was only 1.3 miles, though almost certainly sees more ridership a day.
