Full poll here for views on Russia too. [https://www.pewresearch.org/global/2025/06/23/views-of-russia-and-putin-2025/pg_2025-06-23_global-views-russia-nato_2_01/](https://www.pewresearch.org/global/2025/06/23/views-of-russia-and-putin-2025/pg_2025-06-23_global-views-russia-nato_2_01/)

I also found it extra interesting how in most countries the young also support Russia bit more than the old, but Germany is the exception despite high support of AfDers – [its young have even less favourable views of Russia than young Poles](https://www.pewresearch.org/wp-content/uploads/sites/20/2025/06/pg_2025.06.23_global-views-russia-nato_2_03.png?resize=567,1024)

It’s scary how All the right wings in the world share a similarity – love towards a dictator and war criminal.

  3. EraOfProsperity on

Being myself a right winger, this love for Putin is very concearning. He isn’t our freind, but many struggle to understand that.

  4. Alarming-Factor6510 on

It’s statistic about possible voters. 58% of those who have positive view of fidesz love what Putin does. But apart from Hungarian, Germany and Greek(and let’s be fair, those are real Russian gas/other things lover countries) other countries far right “possible voters” (because it’s those who think that far right party is positive, not those who would vote for those) negative view of Putin is >50% to 91% even amongst “far right Putin parties”. Feel free to down vote me to hell, but I’m saying you see two metrics in this graph but graph is framed – real problem is that 32% of far right party haters in Greece love Putin, not that 91% of far right lovers hate Putin is higher number than 96% far right haters hating Putin in Sweden. This statistic purely shows that Greeks are Putin ass lickers. Critical thinking brought to you by: MSc in statistics

Thanks for leaving us out, really appreciate not having to face the current state of affairs.

Guys, don’t worry. The rabid bear won’t kill *us*.

A 43 point difference for Germany. Time to ban AfD

  8. tnksrbrnddtrtrs on

well yeah, else they wouldn’t be traitors and anyone voting for them absolutely hates the country they live in

  9. Hot-Explanation6044 on

It makes wonder if there’s another reason apart from propaganda/ignorance that makes people want what’s worse for everybody

  10. The-marx-channel on

This shouldn’t be surprising in the slightest. The Far right has been directly funded and held up to secure Russian interests in Europe.

  11. The_memeperson on

Most people that are pro-Putin here joined FvD instead of the PVV

  12. ButterscotchSure6589 on

I don’t believe 10% the people in the UK who don’t have a positive view of Reform, have a positive view of Putin. It also shows that more non right wing Greeks have a more positive view than right wing Britons.

  13. Sea_Self_6571 on

Unbelievable. There should be legal consequences for supporting terrorists.

  14. Rare_Opportunity2419 on

Could you clarify what the green data points mean? I’m assuming it’s the percentage from the right-wing populist parties (i..e Fidesz, Reform, AfD, etc.) who support Russia, but it’s not clear from the title or the graphic.

  15. raidenskiana on

in other words, it’s always the people you most expect

  16. CertainMiddle2382 on

    Hungary and Greece ok.

    But Germany, damn reunification /s

  17. BanAnimeClowns on

So people don’t misunderstand, the percentage points show how favourably Putin supporters view the individual political parties. Not what percentage of supporters of the individual political parties also support Putin.

  18. safesouthstanding on

Afd is unbelievably weird. How do these people not see that the interests of Germany are diametrically opposed to those of Russia?

These polls confirm my biases. Bardella would basically be Meloni. Farage is just Tories with different branding. AfD however, they are the real outliers, they are really really unhinged.

  19. Everyone voting for any of those far right parties is just a Russian puppet at this point. They’re doing their part destabilising the union

  20. Thunder_Beam on

Calling “Forza Italia” right-wing populist its just too much come on

Edit: i thought it was written “far right” but still, nowadays Forza Italia is not populist anymore

  21. John_OSheas_Willy on

    Do far left next.

Here in Ireland, we have a party called people before profit. They complain constantly about spending money on defence and think giving Ukraine weapons is a disgrace.

Even our newly elected president compared modern Germany re arming to 1930s Germany and thinks Putin can be deterred through “peace”.

She said the Salisbury poisoning had to be taken into context of the actions of Nato.

The far left support Putin far more than the far right.

  22. M1dnightBlue on

Is the remaining % after positive and negative the Don’t Knows/neutral etc.?
If so, I find it hard to believe that Putin, being such a polarising figure, would have such a high proportion of Don’t Knows in places like UK, Netherlands, Italy, Spain etc.

I truly wonder how 1st grade bonafide traitors manage to cosplay and get celebrated as “Nationalist” these days.

    I understand nationalism and conservatism.
It’s dumb and doesn’t work, but I at least understand where it’s coming from.

However the current right is the complete anti thesis of nationalism.
They want to surrender to Russia! The faster the better! xD

How can you support that as a nationalist???
    HOW BRAINDEAD CAN ONE BE!?!

I don’t get it, at all.

  24. DearBenito on

Genuinely surprised that Lega’s positive view isn’t at 80% considering that the party literally has some partnership with Putin

  25. MortalGodTheSecond on

I think Greece is quite interesting. That a good opinion of Putin isn’t only a right wing opinion.

  26. CurrencyDesperate286 on

What’s the story with German righties being way more pro-Putin than the likes of Italy or France? Some sort of holdover from East Germany? Or they just really miss cheap gas?

  27. what were those 4 democracies trump wanted to topple again and get out of the EU

exactly. hungary, germany, italy and poland.

  28. IshTheFace on

The Sweden Democrat’s leader warned of Russian aggression in 2013. [In the same speech he addressed the demilitarization](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YD21vjXyktA) (Swedish). He makes a lot of good point in this video. Saying, among other things that even if there is no threat today (again, he said this in 2013), what about 10-20 years from now?

And here we are 12-13 years later..

All this to say, I don’t think SD as a party is particularly fond of Putin or Russia.

  29. It’s not often I get to read something good about the Swedish Democrats, but I’m pleasantly surprised.

  30. HopelesslyCivil on

Far-rights think that Russia is a Christian White Nationalist traditional values paradise for some reason (reason: Russian propaganda for the stupidest)
