That tends to happen when you start a trade war to extort everyone, threaten to take over countries, and back away from alliances.

    >According to one Moldovan participant, “The U.S. has abandoned Moldova” was now a common Russian narrative, while Chinese messaging in the global south was also capitalizing on the end of USAID to paint Washington as an unreliable ally.

That’s not narrative, it’s just facts.

It’s also bad for the USA. It was a cheap program that was returning multiples on influence. Which for a country that rely on foring relations for bases and power projection and prints the world international currency is a triple whammy.

No campaign from Russia nor China could have been nearly as effective at dismantling USA power projection.

The fact Modi was seen walking and talking with Putin an Xi, should be a dead givaway that the USA foreign policy ministers need to be fired on the spot, and damage control to be activated immediately.

How anyone could vote for this guy (twice!) is just mindboggling.

  5. Interesting that people in US don’t realise magnitude of damage done.

It always was, the only difference is that Europe is for the first time on the receiving end of aggression styled American imperialism.

Edit. And everyone focusing on trump, tariffs or other negative effects to Europe are happy when this is done to third world and it shows. you just want to go back to how it was, eyes still wide closed and closeted support for fascism as long as its done outside.

When has it been a benign actor? The closest was when it was supplying Stalin’s army

Only now? The US was a malign actor for much of the world for quite some time.

  9. Dependent-Entrance10 on

Hate to be that guy, but the US was always a malign actor.

I mean, it’s always been. They’re just not hiding it anymore.

“Most of the world” includes many of us citizens here in the US.

They serve zionist global goals. It’s not even American elite or sth. Its 7ewish oligarchs and their collaborators trying to make money, callig the shots. Don’t forget they washed the bloody hands of Netanyahu numerous times, while the US gained nothing.

Wdym “Now”? Not our fault some of you are a bit slow to see basic facts.

The tangerine turd and his bootlickers do not care since they have enriched themselves to the point that they do not have to care anymore. And when shit hits the fan he hands out pardons like there is no tomorrow.

It was for lots of the counties (Iraq, Afganistan, Cuba, Vietnam …) but not Europe

The US was a malign actor for *most* of the world for quite a while. We just played along.

It’s gone from a lot of the world to most of the world in such a short amount of time

America is NOW considered by the rest of the world as a PARIAH country, to avoid at all costs. Trump is forcing isolationism on America, for his own personal benefit. America will be at the bottom of the heap like Sudan or Haiti, if he is allowed to continue his cockamamie dreams.

  20. Toughcat902 on

Don’t worry Americans, you still have some “friends”. Russians, Israelis and North Koreans still want to play with you.

  21. 50s_Human on

    >”I hope our friends don’t give up on us so easily.”

Unfortunately, the U.S. is a 50/50 country, therefore the future is likely a series of alternating MAGA and “normal” administrations. It means that America can probably never again be seen as a trustworthy ally in the economic and defense spheres.

  22. One of the struggles against rightwing popularism that Europe has is that these parties are politically funded by US billionaires.

America is now seen as an emotionally abusive partner, the progressives in the US will say I am sorry for our actions, it was only a small number of us, please forgive us and hope the next attack doesn’t push us over the edge.

Now? It was decades ago too but with a facade. But even that facade has been off for the last several years. There is nothing “now” about it.
