      Who’ll replace him? Chambers seems utterly lacking any leadership ability. O’Callaghan seems to have been paralysed with panic when he came close to getting the gig a month ago. Darragh O’Brien couldn’t count houses and is now the most toxic member of FF. So who is left? Willie O’Dea?

      I’d like to believe that FFs reputation is in the bin but they did come out 10 seats clear in the GE a year ago.

      Somehow they are seen as a good party by the majority of voters even after 2011, and I honestly do not understand it.

      Id say all will stay put till the next election. As Clinton said its the economy stupid. Meaning that if the economy is good the government is good. So FG and FF back in power. We will see. Martin will stay becouse in general everyone’s happy. Noting housing defence food prices etc. But i think all knows that no party has a good plan in these areas they are all the same. With adjustments of literally a few tax percentages for extra dole and maybe more language classes without sounding condescending. So il stop.

      Such a naive take by this journalist , I assume another kid just out of journo school thinking they know something about Irish politics….anyone that thinks this story will result in Micheal Martin stepping down genuinely shouldn’t be involved offering their opinion in Irish politics ,it’s so naive it’s actually irritating ….

      Of all the things that should have led to the resignation of a politician, it’s crazy that this is one. Ff/fg have messed up so much stuff, but what matters to them is that they lost a competition for a position with no power.
