MM is the perhaps the greatest t-shock we ever had. He’s inspired a generation of young people to to live their best lives abroad

Good riddance…. Only problem is he will be replaced by a similar gobshite.

Who’ll replace him? Chambers seems utterly lacking any leadership ability. O’Callaghan seems to have been paralysed with panic when he came close to getting the gig a month ago. Darragh O’Brien couldn’t count houses and is now the most toxic member of FF. So who is left? Willie O’Dea?

Launch the smarmy faced, spineless piece of shit into the fucking sun. Getting absolutely sick of these fools shoulder shrugging and awkwardly grinning because they can’t even run a transition year mini company, let alone the country.

O’ Callaghan is favoured by the FF faithful. Chambers is too busy deciding what he wants off Santa

They’ve dragged this out so long. Should have stuck the boot in when it was all blowing up. O’Callaghan is waiting for the party leadership to fall into his lap.

Loool. It would if they have any shame. Which FFG have zero of.

I’d like to believe that FFs reputation is in the bin but they did come out 10 seats clear in the GE a year ago.
Somehow they are seen as a good party by the majority of voters even after 2011, and I honestly do not understand it.

If Martin goes Chambers needs to go with him. He’s upto his neck in this tawdry J Gavin business

Leave him in, the people voted for him. Let them suffer

I wont shed a tear should he have to resign.

The Examiner, contrary to the rest of the country, still has faith in Micheál Martin to do the right thing. A triumph of optimism over experience.

It should be resignation territory, but apart from a fully armed coup d’état, Micheál isn’t leaving his position.

Id say all will stay put till the next election. As Clinton said its the economy stupid. Meaning that if the economy is good the government is good. So FG and FF back in power. We will see. Martin will stay becouse in general everyone’s happy. Noting housing defence food prices etc. But i think all knows that no party has a good plan in these areas they are all the same. With adjustments of literally a few tax percentages for extra dole and maybe more language classes without sounding condescending. So il stop.

I mean why is he hanging on? He’s already been t-shock. There’s not much more to do. Surely you get some plum job somewhere

MM doesn’t have the capability to do this; he is single-minded and won’t relinquish leadership easily.

Such a naive take by this journalist , I assume another kid just out of journo school thinking they know something about Irish politics….anyone that thinks this story will result in Micheal Martin stepping down genuinely shouldn’t be involved offering their opinion in Irish politics ,it’s so naive it’s actually irritating ….

max age for politicians to be in duty should be 65 imo. they keep their seat way too long

Of all the things that should have led to the resignation of a politician, it’s crazy that this is one. Ff/fg have messed up so much stuff, but what matters to them is that they lost a competition for a position with no power.

Introduce accountability to public service and watch things improve dramatically.

Resignation territory? It’ll take four strong men to pick him up and carry him out when he finally unwinds from the levers of power.

Seriously? Of all the things one can blame Martin for, this is the thing that might actually be the sackable offence? Oi….
