They interviewed them on Morning Ireland. They were happy with the Garda presence. World has gone mad at the moment for everyone.

Jews in area with the most jews in the country gather to celebrate a Jewish holiday and “Minister for Justice Jim O’Callaghan attended on behalf of the Government” aka TD in his constituency attends event in his constituency. I’d recommend Deli 613 in Rathmines for great sandwiches

  3. Delighted to see Jim O’Callaghan was there, and brave in the face of the current hysteria. Shame on FG for sending no-one.

Glad they got to have it and hope they had a good time. Judaism doesn’t automatically mean being zionist ot supporting Israel and I really can’t stand when people treat them as being the same thing. The Irish Jewish community have made massive, disproportionate contributions to Ireland despite their small size. But I’m still going to call out Israeli genocide, when push comes to shove.

You know, sometimes it feels like there are a bunch of aliens on this sub who’ve yet to learn how to be normal humans because a normal human should know how to compartmentalise things, like knowing that there’s a space to talk about Hanukkah in Dublin, and there are others spaces to talk about other things.

Disgusting how they celebrated in a park named after a genocidal Zionist settler colonist who gleefully planned the mass displacement and execution of Palestinians within what we today call the ‘Green line’. This genocide has continued unabated for 75 years.

I know I will get brigaded by liberal zionist and FFG Irish Times readers for this, but equating Judaism and Zionism is only going to further perpetuate antisemitism globally because the genocidal Zionist entity claims to speak for all Jews everywhere.

I hope all anti-zionist Jews everywhere have a lovely Hanukkah, and I hope anyone who supports the settler colonial supremacist ethnostate has a shit day. Absolute crusaders.

And before some absolute eejit cries antisemitism, I would treat white Rhodesians and white South African’s the exact same way, because they are quite literally the same as Israel Jews who experiences privledges to the detriment of the indigenous Palestinian people.

I’ve read in recent months that the Zionist entity has upped its hasbara/online propaganda efforts once again to save face for committing a genocide, I’m excited to see the response to this now.

Edit: for anyone reading, you can see I am being brigaded by Zionist bots as predicted.

Let’s see if this thread gets locked like the other ones recently.  Some people just can’t be normal about Jews existing in Ireland.

    Happy Hanukkah

I do just question why this park representing a zionist with overt links to Palestinian oppression was used? I assume zionist jews wanted to go here as some ‘big man arent we against supposed anti semetic ireland by going to the herzog park’ type of thing.

Any non-zionist irish jews weigh in for the dynamics of this?

They need to be careful. I do not trust Netenyatu one bit, targeting those countries who spoke out against Israel

Happy Hanukkah to everyone in attendance! Looks like a gorgeous event.

It’s been a complicated few years for Jewish people, with lots of different ideologies and nations vying to make the religion synonymous with them, to claim the star of David and the rabbi and the synagogue as theirs. We’ve all seen people in Ireland try to claim our tricolour in similar ways, try to take our symbols and our history and turn it into something divisive. We all know how intimidating and upsetting it is to see symbols we love reappropriated like that.

Celebrations like these, where communities come together, where people just get to share in the joy of being people, are so, so important during such turbulent times.
