In the media I have only heard the government’s side of this. Obviously, hearing just the one side makes me feel pretty bad towards the doctors. I understand that they want their pay to be equivalent to before the crash, but having had 26% already (I think over a period of time to come though), clearly the rest is not particularly affordable.

I would really like to hear the doctor’s perspective on doing these strikes now and why they are justified, other than from the “our pay still isn’t the spending power it was in 2008”. I assume there is a lot more to it, but I am only hearing from one side at the moment and would like the full picture.

Do I think doctors should be paid more? Yes. But personally I would rather put more money in to training places so more of our own young people, who really want to be doctors but just can’t get the places on courses, can do so- or so that more of our young medicine graduates can actually get jobs

It is baffling that training positions aren’t given on a priority basis. UK educated doctors first or at least those with 3+ year NHS experience should be given first priority

Been to the hospital a month ago or so.

I waited 4 hours to be seen while struggling to breathe because as I heard nurses talk between each other, there was a lack of beds.

I spent 40min in the bed while receiving drip before being moved to the chair. A bed I did not need. While waiting room was crowded all the doctors while bussy seemed to be chilling.

Hospitals are run in an incredibly inefficient way. I get the pay rise etc. demands but I fail to see how doctors are overworked except for the long hours caused by understaffing or constant backlog so there is never a down time which you would expect to happen during the night as people sleep.

It is good that the government committed funds towards an NHS Efficiency taskforce. That will take time.

That said, I do believe they do deserve to be paid well as it is not an easy job and profession which you want to see high retention in and domestic investment for natives to pursue.

Also, if there were 30 thousand applicants for 10 thousand positions, not a single slot should have gone to foreign applicants, if they do not already live within the UK.

I went for an X-ray yesterday.

Both people in the department I spoke to said they couldn’t understand why flu sufferers become in patients.

100% on the side of doctors. Offering doctors another pay cut in real terms is not acceptable.

Wealth tax, stop corporate + HNW tax-dodging and re-nationalise our core industries to stop profiteering and waste.
