Germany is facing a legal case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for aiding and abetting genocide in Gaza by supplying weapons to Israel
Germany’s arms sales to Israel, which totalled $326.5m last year – a tenfold increase on 2022 – make it complicit in Israel’s alleged war crimes.
That is a mighty moustache
Germany has disgraced itself with its backing of Israel, and Berlin and other regional power centres have gone even further in treating people who protest for palestinian rights differently to people who protest for other causes.
If these people broke the law in Germany then they can be tried and sentenced. But their treatment should be equal to any other cases, and the German system should be blind to their cause. It isn’t. Germany puts its support for Israel above its own justice system’s health. And they are very loud and proud about it.
Clearly a Disco Elysium fan
I can sympathise with him on a personal level (and more pertinently, his family) but if you break the law in another country you will place yourself directly at the mercy of that country’s legal system. The German legal system is not notorious for emotional reasoning, but is generally viewed as a bit bureaucratic and petty.
Did he seriously not know how German authorities react when anything touches Israel? This isn’t new or subtle. Germany goes nuclear on activists the moment Israel is involved, legal nuance be damned. Harsh remand, “terror” language, zero bail it’s basically policy at this point. You don’t have to agree with the protest, but acting shocked now feels painfully naive.
Cue the pro-genocide boot lickers.
Doesn’t suprise anyone, seeing how the German police behave in public with hundreds of cameras pointing at them.
Isn’t this the crowd that broke a female police officers ribs with a sledgehammer? Not much sympathy for whatever treatment they’re getting
You should probably not break into arms factories.
