Of course, the completely sensible action was to boycott them *after* paying their crazy prices. That’ll show them.
Those sweets would’ve been left in the shop if they asked me to cough up £12.83.

I miss Wilko’s. They had the BEST pic n mix out there. I tried to keep the whole of Wilko’s afloat by buying lots of Pic N Mixes, I failed, sorry everyone.

Lol, I boycotted them as soon as I saw them. They’re 100% laundering money in those places and have no interest in genuine sales to anyone.
Their stock is also old and usually fake, made in the middle East and packaged up look like famous sweet brands.
From what I understand, the ones in London are also defrauding their business rates, by closing down before they are due and then start a new sweets company again next year.

I feel for this woman, it’s obviously the first time she’s been outside on her own.

A packet of Haribo’s is £1. 50 you could of got more than 8 bags.

I can’t understand how people are so insensitive with numbers to fall for these pick and mix
The moment I saw their price per 100g I avoid them like the plague

The picture doesn’t seem to reflect what she got though?
Her comments say she got one of the heavier gummy worms.
It’s gonna be expensive but pick n mix always has been.

Looks like slimy press cropped the picture, in the article they detail she picked out almost 400g of pick and mix lol.
You don’t pick out a giant bag like that at one of those places, that’s going to be cinema tier pricing.

I miss the Woolies free pick n mix you’d just help yourself to as you were leaving the shop.

Why did she buy them if she wasn’t happy with the price? Its a bit late to boycott them after you have paid

2kg for £2 on Temu but it is weird shapes and bits that look like they were swept off the factory floor.

Is it me, or is 390g of sweets a vast amount of sweets?
Min_sora on
That picture can’t possibly reflect what she bought at 390g, which is heavier than the article is giving credit for. I’m not saying it’s £12 worthy, but that’s a fairly hefty bag of pick ‘n mix.

It’s the audacity of them expecting you to pay that much at the till that gets me. Places like this are killing the simple joy of a proper pick and mix. We all know the real tragedy is that Wilko’s isn’t around to show them how it’s done.

When I end up by Tottenham court Road station, I enjoy my walk along Oxford street, but seeing the overpriced Harry potter shops or American candy stores or what ever the fuck they are now, is just an eyesore, I see people within and I hope they are merely being tourists and looking without buying a damn thing.

The mixture of odd numbers of some sweets and even numbers of others is confusing me. There’s more going on here than an inability to estimate weight

Surely we can match up all the thieves of London with these money laundering fronts?

As long as the price is clearly marked then this is an idiot shopper, and the shop did nothing wrong apart from having high prices (which, tbh, in a shopping centre for an impulse buy is par for the course).
Am I going to pay £30/kg for pick and mix? No, absolutely not. But don’t go in there, see the price and then complain about being charged the marked price.

Edit: from a quick search I found this online shop https://pickandmix.com/product/create-your-own/1kg-pick-and-mix-create-your-own-sweets-bag/ which suggests a fair price for p+m is £15/kg, being charged double the fair price for stuff you buy in the Trafford Centre isn’t that ludicrous anyway.
She got 390g of sweets? That’s almost half a kilo!
More than half your daily calorie intake!
Gluttony has a price.
Why are the sweets laid out like they’re from a police raid on a drug dealers house.
