There is shit load of perfectly usable cars all over Europe, already produced.
And it would cost not that much to renews their pollution control items.
This lure to shiny new things, in green washing disguises..

Why has China achieved such results in electric cars without banning internal combustion engines, while the EU needs a ban to do so?

EU bans ICE – people whine.
EU unbans ICE – people whine
Article conviniently omits that EU BEV already lost, with only tarrifs keeping the sector afloat. Sales of European EV has been stagnant, while ICE does alright and Europe still has a leg up there.
Lifting a theoretical ban deadline 10y from now, by which time eu car biz might not even be a genuine player anymore, hardly makes any difference.

Not really, France, ok, precisely Total is also the one winning, because they have a 100% bio diesel fuel in the works.
They… Need to up production as it runs on current installation and somewhat ‘new’ diesel engines ( I think euro 4, 2006 and newer ).
Seeing we have the cars.. It can be a good idea to reduce emissions
