It is not the first time that Prince Laurent has been angry about his endowment and social security. He told the Sudpresse newspapers in January: “My wife is still not entitled to anything. (…) I seem like someone who is never satisfied and who always has problems. But I fight for basic values.”
Royal family, always on the side of basic rights… /s
I can understand his gripes, in that his wife is screwed when he dies. It might not be popular to say, but this could have been arranged better.

De oplossing daarvoor zit ingebouwd in uw huwelijk regeling. Ofwel hebben ze gekozen dat den helft van zijn inkomsten of minstens het geld dat ze mist doordat ze getrouwd te zijn schuldig is aan haar. Ofwel gekozen voor splitsing, en hebben ze bewust gekozen dat ze genaait wordt.
