If it was only brought in 3 years go it’s no surprise it’s increased in 3 years.
I’m more surprised to learn they had to bring it in as its own thing because it usually didn’t meet the requirements for GBH, and they usually had to charge it as common assault. I’d have thought choking someone with such severity they fear for their life and it leaves physical marks/physical damage/mental trauma would meet the GBH definition.
