Glad they stopped it New Year’s should be fireworks and music, not fear.

Guess who arrived to Istanbul today for a 1 week holiday to be greeted by this news… depressing. Won’t feel comfortable to go to the busy central places now. Will stay in the residential areas my grandparents and relatives live. Not putting my wife and kid to risk.

First, they wanted Erdoğan to provoke Syria so that Israel’s northern front would be relieved. Yet until 2011, we were practically one state with Syria. In those years, while Erdoğan’s media called Rauf Denktaş a terrorist, the Syrian government had launched ferry services from Latakia to the TRNC. Then Syria was destroyed and became the center of 1001 different terrorist organizations. Then the -very civilized- Europeans made a deal with Erdoğan and turned Turkey into a dumping ground for refugees and terrorists. Every day, many Syrians are killed at the Greek border, but this is never reported in the media. However, if a Syrian has even the smallest problem inside Turkey, the European press declares Turkey a genocidal and fascist country. No, refugees either return to Syria or go to Europe. No Turkish citizen is obliged to live with them. Anyone who wants to can call me racist.
Despite all this, the media has further inflated the falsehood that Erdoğan is an enemy of Israel and a supporter of ISIS (until 2010, they used to say that Erdoğan was a democrat). Now Israel’s both maritime and land borders are safer. Yet Turkey is the country that has fought ISIS the most and is dealing with the refugee crisis. Once Erdoğan leaves, they’ll all pack up and leave.
