      NOTE FOR MODERATION BEFORE REVIEW: After reading it myself and after seeing other people’s reactions to the article in other communities I found the term “Decolonizing” in the original article title to be too confusing. Despite the article’s later clarifications the title implies the guest wants a break-up of Russian territory when in reality the goal is to remove any and all imperalistic desires from Russia. Because of that and the desire to ensure the best quality of discussion I have decided to alter the title.

      Spot on – deimperializing Russia means dismantling the toxic imperial mindset that’s fueled aggression for centuries, not plunging the region into chaos. Ending Putin’s neo-imperial logic protects minorities and ensures real peace, as voices from indigenous groups and experts keep emphasizing.

      If Russia is to be reduced to an single nation state (i.e Russian), then it would be just a small portion of their current territory. And Russia’s borders would not go beyond the Ural mountains

      Personally I think the only way this mindset would end is for total military defeat which won’t happen anytime soon

      The only thing that keeps Russia together is that if someone starts independence movement, they’ll be bombed into oblivion like Chechnya was.

      I understand why people, who hate Russia, want it to be sliced. Still…

      1) To do it, you guys need to occupy us. As far as I know, this is far from reality.

      2) There is only couple of regions, which can be granted with true autonomy “gracefully”.

      3) For example, there are tensions between Chechnya and Dagestan right now. If you don’t know, 2nd Chechen War started from invasion of chechen paramilitary groups in Dagestan. And there are still many issues, which were not resolved yet. If you want to make them independent entities, you should be ready to prevent a war between them, because there **will** be a war.

      4) As I said I understand position of people, who just want to destroy Russia. As a citizen I don’t like it, but I understand it. But if you think in a paradigm like “we need to give liberty to these occupied nations” you probably don’t know enough about this places.

      In order to finally have peace in our continent, the russian federation needs to go under the following three easy steps:

      a) demilitarisation;

      b) balkanisation;

      c) denazification.

      In the third millennium there shouldn’t be room for a growing empire, at the expenses of its peaceful neighbours.

      The main issue with Russia is the low value it puts on human life, including the lives of its citizens. This is nothing new, and will require a lot of work and, unfortunately, time. Most of the russian population has been treated as either moujiks good only to work as serfs for centuries, or being meat for the red army after 1917.

      Givin Europe’s imperial history i think that calling for deimperializing Russia is a bit hypocritical
