“The UK exported a record-breaking €22 billion worth of weapons in 2025, and “there is more to come”, the defence ministry said on Friday.
In August, Norway signed its largest procurement contract to date, buying at least five British-designed Type 26 frigates, built by UK-based BAE Systems for €11.4 billion.
The agreement was part of a closer cooperation between the two countries to secure the North Atlantic and Arctic against increased Russian activity.
A second major deal was the sale of 20 Eurofighter Typhoon jets to Turkey, a multinational programme in which the UK is a core partner along with Germany, Italy, and Spain.
Ankara signed the €9.1 billion deal after Germany lifted its opposition due to a range of concerns, largely linked to the Turkish government’s record on human rights and democracy. The four countries must all agree to such sales.”

I wonder where that’s puts the UK globally in terms of arms exports. Previously, it’s been around the 7th largest arms exporter in the world, with the USA being by far and away the biggest exporter.

Theres been a crazy revival of UK ship building, apart from the massive Norway frigate deal, the UK is also now manufacturing submarine components for the US.

As long as they’re not going to bad countries (the Saudi Arabia deals are sketchy given their operations in Yemen for example, and of course there’s Israel) this is a good thing. The actions of Russia, and to a lesser extent China and the US, show how important it is to have a strong and independent military within Europe.
Being part of European joint projects like Eurofighter is important and it’s good that there is a market for that. And of course our domestic industry is important too and we are starting to find markets for that again too.

Stonks.
Keep it up BAE, Babcock, Rolls, et al.
These companies are both strategic assets and symbols of national prestige, particularly our aviation industries and shipbuilders (GDUK needs to sit in the corner for a while with this Ajax business), and need to be supported.

Western chauvinists of the world unite. A million more dead proles for the blood god—lest he ever go hungry. We must protect our international capital formations at any cost.
“Who are we exporting to?” I hear the dissenters ask.
The US, well they’ve only commited a genocide in the last two years. They’ve only killed 90~ people in their imperial assault on Venezuela that we refuse to acknowledge. Just a laugh innit. They had us sending F35 parts to Israel for their genocide while we didn’t even have enough to do training flights? What a jolly time.
Saudia Arabia? Well it’s only an absolute monarchy propped up by foreign (US) support. Who cares if we sell them billions of advanced armaments? What’s Yemen? BAE? Least corrupt in the business I tell you.
The UAE? Well we were told they were supplying the RSF in their genocide in Sudan—but that matters little when we can double-cash-in with a trade deal and ignore that entirely.
Turkey? No problems with authoritarianism there at all. India? I’m sure the BJP is perfectly normal, they love Muslims, what’s this phrase ‘racist’. Israel? Not like it was found guilty of apartheid last year or anything, what’s this term ‘genocide’? Egypt? I’m sure that’s a democratic regime—not a US satellite state. They’ve not been a problem since they had the audacity to think their own infrastructure should be owned by them in the 50s.
This vision for the country is utterly grim. Where we used to have industry we will again—only in arms—where the arms companies themselves (praise BAE) are also responsible for their own ‘company towns’ so we get the best of their pious investment. Just a small break from the usual, sorry, I literally cannot imagine anything better than the UK as an arms exporting nation tied to the great and moral US empire.
All praise the genocidal paedophile. All praise President Trump. And all bless the orange future. Unlimited money to the Western export industry—god forbid we ever invest in our communities in a way that excludes the possibility of a mass murder of the oppressed global majority. We absolutely must use arms to expand job creation—anything else would be Keynesian-wokist. I love the neoclassical synthesis and all it has done for Raytheon and Lockheed. A million blessings on neo-Keynesianism, my beloved military spending vehicle.
Truly, I have never felt more patriotic than when I was reading this article. I am so full of national pride. Downvoters are simply uncivilised serfs with no idea of what made this country great. Just what is your problem? Are you not patriotic? Do you not think our working class should arm the chosen elites in our western satellite states?
Want to challenge it? Go ahead—this is the moral apex of British existence, arms export profits cannot be limited by mere morals—I will not hear otherwise.

Fantastic. We need to export to allies to fund our own rearming and investment. NATO needs to diversify. And our Lazer weapons look to be amongst the best in the world. If we can produce a quality air defense system then we could make billions of it

I’d like to think a huge amount of that is going to Ukraine
