So what? This is war. The Russians had plans to kidnap or kill Zelenskyy and his family at the start of this war. As long as a war is ongoing, Ukraine is free to view Putin as a legitimate military target.
So-called “peace talks” have ultimately been a waste of everyone’s time thus far, with Russia essentially demanding that they be allowed to keep the land they’ve stolen and that Ukraine never be allowed to join NATO, so Russia’s threat to “adjust their negotiation stance” is no more terrifying or offensive than their current stance, which is both offensive and unreasonable.

Any time Putin doesn’t want to be a legitimate military target for Ukraine, he can order his soldiers to face Moscow and march their asses home.
